Faith Ochwada-Doyle

Dr. Faith Ochwada-Doyle is a Senior Research Scientist at the NSW Department of Primary Industries, specializing in quantitative marine and fisheries ecology. Her research primarily involves analysing fisheries survey data to assess shifts in harvest, fishing effort, and societal attitudes in relation to spatio-temporal gradients, climate extremes, and management initiatives. With extensive experience in applying statistical models to both commercial and recreational fisheries data, Dr. Ochwada-Doyle has also recently focused on Cultural fisheries data. Her work investigates how environmental conditions and management interventions, such as harvest limits and the establishment of partially protected areas, affect fishery exploitation and key marine population metrics, including abundance, growth, and mortality rates. Earlier in her career, Dr. Ochwada-Doyle’s research evaluated the relative efficacy of fishery-dependent and fishery-independent methods in accurately measuring species abundance, diversity, and size composition. Her work also applied ecological theory and experimental design to assess the impacts of marine management tools on ecological processes like predation and competition.
